Feeling on edge and like it’s difficult to be present or to be yourself?

Wish you could trust yourself more, use your voice, and feel more connected to yourself or others?

Wonder what it would be like to not have to use so much energy overthinking about the past, future, or pleasing other people?

What is anxiety?

Anxiety is a future-oriented emotion or mood.

As an emotion, anxiety is a response to a perceived threat or anticipation of potential danger that includes many aspects such as worry, body responses, and behaviours.

Anxiety can be seen as a mood state when it a more general feeling of worry, tension, or unease rather than a reaction to a specific event.

Sometimes, anxiety can also be a protective pattern or part of us that has helped us deal with difficult or traumatic things we have experienced in the past.

Is it normal to experience anxiety?

Experiencing anxiety is a natural and normal part of being human.

In fact, we all experience some anxiety from time to time!

While anxiety is a normal part of our experience as humans, sometimes anxiety can take up a lot of space in our lives, leaving less room for us to do the things that are important to us.

If you are often experiencing some or all of the following, you might consider seeking support for anxiety:

  • Feeling on edge, worried, or feel irritable

  • Having difficulty concentrating

  • Feeling tense

  • Experiencing panic attacks or worrying about experiencing panic attacks

  • Worrying about the thoughts or reactions of other people

  • Having difficulty sleeping

  • Noticing that anxiety is getting in the way of things that are important to you, such as relationships, self-understanding, work, school, or your values
